Scrimshaw: Journal of New Writing and Visual Art is an annual publication highlighting original and creative work from students and staff, past and present, of Atlantic Technological University (ATU). A student-led publication, each volume of Scrimshaw is taken over by a new editorial team from ATU Sligo's Writing & Literature third-years. This unique approach allows each volume to have it's own distinctive style.
Within the last year the creative industry has become enshrouded in the threat of A.I. and we believe Scrimshaw Vol. VI should honour the tradition of literary journals through its design and content. This year we want to emphasise the importance of making art through our continual showcasing of the work of budding creatives.
If you are thinking of submitting, please know that at Scrimshaw we have always been more interested in unique ideas than making sure commas are in the right place (although rest-assured, we'll be checking everything is in its right place as soon as we've recovered from having our minds blown).
