Melissa is in her final year at ATU Sligo studying Writing and Literature with a focus on screenwriting and illness theory. Her previous work includes music and pop culture journalism and disability advocacy. She can usually be found deep in the woods with a camera in her hands.
Emily is a mature student in age but not necessarily in personality. She lives in West Cork with two dogs and a human. She spends a lot of time looking at Dunmanus Bay wondering whether or not going for a swim would be a good plan and other things which aren’t always the things she should be thinking about. She enjoys writing creative non-fiction, poetry, and making short films that are like poems. She hopes to graduate with a BA in Writing and Literature from ATU Sligo in 2026, around about the same time as Scrimshaw goes to print. No pressure there then.
Dean McMorrow is an aspiring screenwriter, novelist, and playwright from Pollboy, Manorhamilton, County Leitrim. He has acted on stage in local Leitrim/Sligo community theatre productions since childhood and is passionate about creative writing and performing arts. He is a third-year student of the BA in Writing and Literature at ATU Sligo.
Tara-Fay Ni Riain was born in Australia and grew up in Leitrim and Sligo. A lover of modernism, and anything surreal or romantic, she enjoys all aspects of creative and academic writing. Her previous work include explorations of the digital age, poetry, screenwriting and fiction. In an ideal future she would like to live in a small stone cottage along a stormy shore in the West of Ireland.
Natalia Grobelska is a third-year student at ATU Sligo studying Writing and Literature. She is an aspiring novelist and screenwriter. Born in Poland and growing up in Ireland she has always had a love for green countryside, forests and beaches. She loves reading anything magic, fantasy and sci-fi related.
Gemmaclaire is a final year Writing and Literature Student who sometimes likes to call herself ‘a writer and poet.’ She travels impulsively and has worked in several countries around Europe. Still, in the end, she always returns to her home, the heart of Ireland: Gaillimh. She has been published in newspapers such as The Irish Times, but just like her travel, her writing inspiration is usually impulsive and derives from her efforts of figuring out her own life on the day-to-day. Following graduating from ATU, Gemmaclaire aims to travel and write more.
